Key Takeaways
  • Eco-luxury on the edge of the Batoka Gorge, roughly 10km from Victoria Falls, inside a private wildlife sanctuary.
  • Twelve luxury tented suites, each with a private plunge pool and gorge or bush views, plus the exclusive Elephant Camp West villa.
  • Deep conservation credentials through a partnership with the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust.
  • Ethical wildlife encounters, a resident cheetah ambassador and star-bed sleep-outs under the Milky Way.
  • An intimate, all-inclusive base for the Falls and its adventures.

Why The Elephant Camp

The Elephant Camp is where eco-luxury meets genuine conservation. Perched on the rim of the Batoka Gorge inside the Wild Horizons Wildlife Sanctuary — a private reserve on the doorstep of Victoria Falls — the camp looks out over the gorge where the Zambezi surges downstream from the Falls. It is close enough for the spray plume to rise on the horizon, yet far enough to feel wonderfully wild.

What sets it apart is purpose. The camp's partnership with the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust means every stay supports anti-poaching, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. This is a lodge with a conscience — and a spectacular setting to match.

The Suites & Setting

Twelve luxury tented suites are strung along the gorge edge, each raised on a private platform with a plunge pool, a shaded deck and floor-to-ceiling views. Inside you will find a king bed, air-conditioning, an en-suite bathroom and the soft luxury of canvas-and-timber design that keeps you connected to the bush. For families or groups seeking exclusivity, the four-suite Elephant Camp West villa comes with its own pool, chef, guide and vehicle.

The heart of the camp is an open lounge and dining area with a firepit and pool that gaze across the sanctuary toward the gorge. It is intimate — never more than a few dozen guests — so service is personal and unhurried.

The Zambezi below the Falls — the wild river that defines the Batoka Gorge.

Wildlife & Conservation

Game drives explore the Wild Horizons sanctuary, home to elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and a wealth of plains game and birdlife. But the camp's most moving encounters are its conservation-led ones. Guests can meet the Trust's rescued and rehabilitated animals, learn about the work first-hand, and understand what it takes to protect this corner of Africa.

Sylvester the cheetah — an orphan raised by the Trust — became the camp's famous ambassador, and the ethos he represents runs through everything here. For an unforgettable night, the elevated star-bed platform lets couples sleep out under the Milky Way with the sounds of the bush all around.

Victoria Falls & Adventures

At around 10 kilometres from the Falls, the camp is perfectly placed for the full Victoria Falls menu. Guided tours of the Falls, sunset cruises on the Zambezi, the Flight of Angels helicopter, and the region's legendary adventures — white-water rafting through the Batoka Gorge, bungee off the bridge, zip-lines and gorge swings — are all a short transfer away and easily arranged by the camp.

Best Time to Visit

The camp is open year-round. May to October is the dry season — the best time for game viewing and the classic Falls experience, with clear skies and comfortable days. February to May brings the Zambezi's peak flood and the most powerful Falls. The green season (November to March) is lush and quiet, superb for birding and photography.
