Why This Itinerary Works
Botswana offers so much — water, desert, salt pans, big cats, wilderness silence — that a one-camp honeymoon feels like leaving too much on the table. This 7-night route solves that. It gives you three distinct Botswana landscapes in a single, unhurried week: the intimacy and wildlife of the Okavango Delta; the otherworldly romance of the Makgadikgadi Pans; and the thundering drama of Victoria Falls to close. Each segment flows naturally into the next, with just enough time at each to relax without feeling rushed.

Day-by-Day: Your Perfect Week
Day 1 – Arrival in the Okavango Delta
You land in Maun mid-morning, clear customs and board a small light-aircraft for the short hop (usually 20–35 minutes) into the Delta. The flight is low and slow — you bank over elephants, watch hippo scatter in the shallows below and spot the emerald thread of waterways winding through the wilderness. Your camp's private airstrip appears, and within minutes of landing you're in an open 4x4 heading deeper into the concession, cold towel in hand, the African bush opening around you.
After a leisurely lunch and an orientation to your suite (plunge pool, outdoor shower, copper bath, deck overlooking the floodplain), you'll head out on your first afternoon game drive. Depending on the camp and season, you might cross channels by vehicle, stop for sundowners on a termite mound or track a leopard into the golden hour. Dinner is back at camp — candlelit, intimate and a gentle introduction to the days ahead.
Days 2–3 – Okavango Delta Immersion
The rhythm here is simple: wake before dawn for coffee and rusks, then head out on a morning game drive (the best time for cats and wild dog). Return mid-morning for brunch, then siesta through the heat of the day by the pool or on your private deck. Late afternoon you'll go out again — this time perhaps by mokoro (traditional dugout canoe), gliding silently through papyrus-lined channels as the light softens and the fish eagles call. Or another game drive, tracking whatever the guides have found.

Day 4 – Fly to the Makgadikgadi Pans
After a final morning in the Delta, you'll fly east to the Makgadikgadi — a landscape so alien it barely feels like Earth. These are the dried remains of a super-lake that once covered much of northern Botswana; today they form one of the world's largest salt-pan systems, a vast white emptiness that stretches to the horizon. Your camp sits on the edge of the pans, green with palms and acacia, a sudden oasis in the void.
Afternoon is yours to settle in — perhaps a quad-bike ride out onto the pans themselves, where you can stand in utter silence and feel the curvature of the earth. Or visit the habituated meerkat colony nearby, where you'll sit quietly as a family of meerkats emerges from their burrow and uses you as lookout posts. It's absurdly charming.
Day 5 – Starbed Sleep-Out
This is the night you've been waiting for. After a day of exploration — perhaps a walk with a San Bushman tracker, learning ancient survival skills; or a visit to Kubu Island, where giant baobabs stand alone on a rocky outcrop — you'll be driven out to a raised sleeping platform on the open pans. Just a mattress, mosquito netting and the African night. No tent. No walls. Nothing between you and the Milky Way.
Dinner is served at sunset, the sky turning gold and pink and finally deep indigo. And then the stars come out — so many, so bright, that you can read by their light. Days 6–7 – Victoria Falls Finale
On day six you'll fly north to Kasane, then cross into Zambia or Zimbabwe for your final two nights at Victoria Falls. The contrast is deliberate: after the silence of the Delta and pans, the Falls feel thrillingly alive — the roar of water, the spray rising hundreds of feet, rainbows arcing through the mist. You can walk the viewpoints, take a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, try bungee jumping or white-water rafting if you're brave, or simply watch the sun set over the gorge with a gin and tonic.
On your last morning, we recommend a helicopter flight over the Falls — thirteen minutes that give you the full sweep of the gorge, the basalt cliffs and the Zambezi snaking away into the distance. It's a fitting finale to the week: one last adrenaline rush, one last moment of awe, before you fly home.
