Welcome. I’m George, and it’s my privilege to be your host through the Beyond Africa collection. What you’re holding isn’t a brochure — it’s a book, and I’d love for you to read it slowly.

Turn each page and you’ll travel with us: from the leopards of the Sabi Sand to the thundering plains of the Serengeti, from the still waterways of the Okavango to the misted mountains where the gorillas live.

Every lodge in these pages, we’ve slept in ourselves. Every guide, we know by name. Nothing here is off a shelf — each journey is built from a blank page, around you.

So take your time. Let the pictures move you, let the seasons guide you, and when a journey speaks to your heart, reach for us. We’ll be right here, ready to plan the Africa you’ve always dreamed of.

— George, welcoming you to Beyond Africa

01 — Welcome

A private Africa, planned around you

Beyond Africa is a private touring company based in Cape Town. We plan tailor-made safaris and journeys across the finest corners of the continent — from the leopards of the Sabi Sand and the plains of the Serengeti to the waterways of the Okavango and the mountain gorillas of Rwanda and Uganda.

Every trip is built from a blank page. You tell us your dates, your pace and what you most want to see; we handle the lodges, the flights, the guides and every transfer in between. One team, one point of contact, start to finish.

02 — Planning

When to go

Africa rewards travellers all year. The trick is matching the season to what you most want to see. As a rule, the dry winter months give the best big-game viewing — thinning bush and shrinking waterholes draw animals into the open.

May – SeptemberDry season

Prime game viewing across Southern Africa. Cool mornings, sunny days, little rain. Ideal for a first safari.

October – NovemberShoulder

Hot and dramatic, with excellent predator sightings before the rains. Quieter camps and lower rates.

December – MarchGreen season

Lush scenery, newborn animals and superb birding. Short afternoon showers. Great value, fewer vehicles.

July – OctoberGreat Migration

River crossings peak in the Masai Mara. Calving on the Serengeti plains runs late January to February.

Insider tip

Shoulder months — April and November — give near-dry-season wildlife at low-season prices. We hold quiet-camp allocations our walk-up guests rarely find.

“Dawn breaks over the plains, and the oldest wilderness on earth begins to stir.”

— George, your host
