Question 1

How much does an African safari cost per day?

Accepted Answer

As a working range, mid-range lodges run roughly US$350 to US$600 per person per night, premium lodges US$700 to US$1,200, and the top private camps US$1,500 and up. That is normally all-inclusive in the bush: room, all meals, two guided game drives a day, park fees and often drinks. Light-aircraft flights, international flights and visas sit on top. We quote the full number so there is no surprise later.

Question 2

What is included in the price you quote?

Accepted Answer

In the bush, nearly everything: accommodation, all meals, two game drives a day with a guide, park and conservation fees, and usually local drinks and laundry. Our quotes also fold in the internal flights, road transfers and the planning itself. What normally sits outside: international flights, visas, travel insurance, premium imported wines and personal spending. Your quote spells out line by line what is in and what is out.

Question 3

Why is a safari more expensive than a normal holiday?

Accepted Answer

You are paying for space and people, not marble lobbies. A good camp keeps only a few rooms on a huge private concession, runs a guide and tracker for every vehicle, flies supplies in, and pays conservation and community fees that keep the land wild. That ratio of staff and land to guests is the cost — and it is also exactly why the experience is what it is.

Question 4

Can you do a safari on a tighter budget?

Accepted Answer

Yes, without pretending it is something it is not. Travel in green season, choose a well-run mid-range lodge over a flagship, drive instead of fly where the distance allows, and pick a malaria-free reserve closer to a city. We will tell you honestly where a lower price costs you game viewing and where it costs you nothing but a fancier bar.

Question 5

Is a deposit refundable if my plans change?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the lodges and airlines in your trip, because their terms become yours once we confirm. We set all of that out in writing before you pay a cent, so you know the cancellation and refund rules for your specific booking. This is the main reason we recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation from the day you pay the deposit.
