Proclaimed as a game reserve in March 1907 in Ordinance 88 by the Governor of German southwest Africa, Dr. Friedrich von Lindequist. Etosha National Park was designated as Wildschutzgebiet in 1958 and only became a national park in 1967 by an act of parliament of the Republic of South Africa. Etosha National Park is a big name today in travel and tours in Namibia. The destination is known for the finest safari and tours in Southern Africa in general and in Namibia in particular and home to the African 4 of the big 5 except the buffalo. These are the lion, leopard, elephant, and giraffe.
