Dunes, Coast & Etosha in Eight Days
This is the Namibia route most first-time visitors are looking for, and our single best-selling itinerary in the country. In eight days you take in the three landscapes that define it: the red dunes of Sossusvlei, the cool Atlantic coast at Swakopmund, and the waterholes of Etosha National Park where elephant, lion, rhino and giraffe gather against a white salt pan. Light-aircraft hops keep the long distances short, so you spend your time in the landscapes rather than on the road.
You climb the dunes at first light, swap the desert for sea fog and oysters on the coast, then move north to Etosha, one of Africa's great game-viewing parks. In the dry season the animals come to the water, so you can sit at a waterhole and let the wildlife come to you. Comfortable lodges, private guiding and unhurried pacing make this a polished introduction to the country.
The right choice for first-time visitors who want Namibia's headline trio — dunes, coast and big game — in one well-paced week. Equally good for couples and keen photographers.

Land in Windhoek and connect by light aircraft over the Khomas Hochland to the Sossusvlei area, the dunes rising as you descend. Your guide meets the plane and transfers you to the lodge. After lunch and a rest, head out for a sundowner drive on the gravel plains as the desert turns gold.
