Proper hiking shoes

The canyon trails are rocky and uneven with some scrambling. Sturdy closed walking shoes or light boots make the day far more comfortable and safe.

Bring swimwear

The natural pools are the reward of the canyon hike. Pack swimwear and a quick-dry towel so you can cool off beneath the palms mid-walk.

Start early

The plateau gets hot and exposed by midday. Early starts give you the best light, the coolest walking and the most active lemurs on the rocks.
