Tsavo National Parks (East & West)

Together, Tsavo East and Tsavo West form one of the world's largest wildlife sanctuaries—a combined 22,000 square kilometres of raw, untamed African bush that dwarfs the Masai Mara by a factor of fourteen. This is Kenya at its wildest: vast landscapes of red-earth savannah, volcanic hills, natural springs, and ancient lava flows that support enormous populations of elephants, buffalo, and the legendary red-dusted Tsavo lions.

Tsavo West is the more scenic of the two, with the crystalline Mzima Springs—where hippos and crocodiles can be observed through underwater viewing chambers—and the dramatic Shetani Lava Flows. Tsavo East offers broader, flatter terrain and some of Kenya's most remote safari experiences, with the Galana River providing a lifeline that draws wildlife in the dry season.

What makes Tsavo truly special for the luxury traveller is its exclusivity. While the Mara can feel crowded during peak migration, Tsavo's sheer size ensures solitude. You might drive for hours and encounter nothing but elephants, sky, and silence.
