- A tiny, remote camp on the legendary Busanga Plains of Kafue National Park.
- Seasonal (roughly Jun–Oct) — among the most exclusive addresses in Zambia.
- Famous for lion on the open floodplain, red lechwe herds and vast, cinematic skies.

Why Busanga Bush Camp
Deep in the north of Kafue — Zambia’s biggest and wildest park — the Busanga Plains open like an inland sea of grass. Busanga Bush Camp is a handful of tents at the heart of it, one of the most remote and intimate camps in the country. There is nothing corporate here: just the plain, the wildlife, and a sky that goes on forever. This is the Zambia of dreams — empty, enormous and alive.
It suits the safari purist and the romantic alike: honeymooners chasing solitude, couples who have done the classic parks and want something rarer, and photographers hunting the plains’ famous light.
The Tents & Setting
Just a few canvas-and-timber tents sit under shady fig trees on a tree island in the plains, each with en-suite bathroom, hot water and a veranda facing the grass. The mood is classic and understated — a small lounge, a dining area, a fire under the stars. Because so few guests share the plains, every drive feels private and every sundowner feels like the whole of Africa is yours.
Wildlife & Activities
The Busanga Plains are best known for lion — large prides that hunt across the open grass — and for the red lechwe and puku herds that draw them. Cheetah hunt the flats, wild dog range widely, and the birdlife over the seasonal wetlands is spectacular. Game drives cross the plains morning and afternoon, walking safaris get you onto the grass on foot, and in the early season the water even allows boating. It is one of the finest open-plains safaris in Africa.
Best Time to Visit
Access depends on the water. The camp opens only once the plains dry enough to reach — roughly June — and runs to late October. August to October is the peak, with the best predator action and the driest tracks. Outside that window the plains flood and the camp closes.
