Start planning a safari honeymoon and the pattern is quickly clear. The trip is described in loving detail — leopards at dawn, champagne on a private deck, a plunge pool the size of a small sea — and then, where the price should be, there is a form. Enquire now. Speak to a specialist. The number stays hidden until you have handed over your email and half an evening. We do it the other way round. Every one of the ten honeymoons below carries a real, published price, from a single honest source, so you can see what your honeymoon costs before you speak to anyone.
These are the ten best luxury African safari honeymoon packages for 2027 and 2028, ranked by fit rather than by price alone. They span the great honeymoon regions of the continent — the leopard country of the Sabi Sand and the islands of Mozambique, the mokoro channels of the Okavango, the Great Migration across the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, the big cats and dawn balloons of the Masai Mara, Cape Town and the Winelands, Victoria Falls and the Chobe, the red dunes of the Namib, the Spice Island of Zanzibar, the granite shores of the Seychelles, and the four-country honeymoon everything else is measured against. Each is a real, bookable, private journey, tailor-made from the first night to the last. For the full three-tier priced breakdown of our core journeys, our companion priced and tailor-made honeymoon packages guide lays out Luxury, Premium and Ultra-Luxury side by side.
How We Ranked These Honeymoons
Each honeymoon was judged on five things: romance (the suites, the private dinners, the set-pieces and how quietly the lodges handle a honeymoon), wildlife and setting (the game viewing, the landscape and the sense of place), privacy (how secluded the camps are and whether the honeymoon feels like your own), how it flows (the pace, the transfers and how smoothly the halves of a trip join), and value (what the two of you receive for the price). The ranking reflects the best overall fit for a honeymoon, not simply the most expensive lodge — which is why the list does not run in price order.
1. Bush & Beach Honeymoon — 10 Days
Best for: The most-loved honeymoon shape there is — Big Five mornings in the Sabi Sand, then barefoot island days on the Mozambique coast.
If there is one honeymoon shape couples ask for above all others, it is bush and beach, and this is our finest version of it. Four nights in the Sabi Sand, where the leopard density is the highest on the continent and camps such as Singita, Lion Sands and Londolozi set the standard for a private safari, then a short flight to the Mozambique coast and the beach villas of andBeyond Benguerra or Azura on Benguerra Island. The wildlife and the water each get long enough to settle into, and the two halves answer each other — the drama of the bush, then the stillness of the sea.
Ten days carries it at the right pace: Big Five game drives and a boma dinner under the stars in the reserve, then a castaway picnic on a sandbank, a sunset dhow with champagne, coral reefs to snorkel and a beach spa on the island. We handle the internal flight between the two so the switch is a single easy travel day. For the wider bush-and-beach picture across the continent, our luxury safari and beach combinations guide sets out the options.
Price from US$8,500 per person sharing (10 days, Sabi Sand lodge and a Mozambique island villa, most meals, internal flights, game drives and honeymoon touches; international flights extra). Best season: May–October for the bush, with warm water on the coast year round. Ideal for: Couples who want wildlife and beach in one trip, first-timers to Africa.
2. Okavango Delta Romance — 7 Days
Best for: Water, wilderness and total privacy — the honeymoon for couples who want the Delta to themselves.
Nowhere does privacy like Botswana. The country keeps its camps small and its concessions private, and the Okavango Delta — a river that never reaches the sea, spilling instead into a maze of channels and islands in the Kalahari — is the most romantic water wilderness in Africa. Fly-in camps such as Mombo, Jao and Vumbura hold only a handful of suites each, so a honeymoon here feels like your own stretch of wild. Mokoro glides at dusk, game drives after some of the finest predator sightings on the continent, and plunge-pool suites looking out over the floodplain.
Seven nights is the right length for the Delta — time to settle into one or two camps, take the water and the land, and let the pace slow. The light aircraft hop in over the channels is part of the romance, and the camps fold honeymoon touches in without being asked. It is the most expensive of the seven-night options for a reason: the exclusivity is the whole point.
Price from US$9,500 per person sharing (7 days, fly-in Delta camps, all meals, game activities, internal flights and honeymoon touches; international flights extra). Best season: May–October for the flood and the best game viewing. Ideal for: Couples who value privacy and water above all, repeat Africa travellers.
3. Serengeti & Ngorongoro Honeymoon — 8 Days
Best for: The Great Migration and the lost-world crater — Tanzania's wild heart, shaped for two.
For sheer scale, nothing matches the Serengeti in migration season — more than a million wildebeest and zebra moving across endless grassland, with the predators that follow them. Pair the plains with the Ngorongoro Crater, a collapsed volcano whose floor holds one of the densest concentrations of wildlife on earth, and you have the great Tanzanian honeymoon. We base it at camps such as Four Seasons Serengeti and Singita Grumeti on the plains, and andBeyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge on the crater rim — one of the most romantic lodges in Africa.
Eight days gives the two reserves room to breathe, with a dawn balloon over the Serengeti and a champagne breakfast on the grass as the honeymoon set-piece, and dinners under a sky thick with stars. Private game vehicles and a honeymoon suite are easy to add. Because the best Serengeti months line up with the dry-season beach weather on the coast, this honeymoon also extends beautifully into Zanzibar or the Seychelles afterwards — see the next entries.
Price from US$7,500 per person sharing (8 days, Serengeti and Ngorongoro camps, most meals, internal flights, game drives and honeymoon touches; balloon and international flights extra). Best season: June–October for the plains; the calving season falls January–February in the south. Ideal for: First-time East Africa couples, Migration-minded travellers.
4. Masai Mara Balloon Honeymoon — 7 Days
Best for: The most cinematic morning in East Africa — the densest big cats and a dawn balloon.
The Masai Mara, the northern end of the same ecosystem as the Serengeti, holds the densest population of lions, leopards and cheetahs in Africa, and from July to October the wildebeest cross the Mara River in their thousands. The honeymoon set-piece is a dawn hot-air balloon drifting low over the plains at first light, followed by a champagne bush breakfast laid out on the grass. We base it at the private conservancies bordering the reserve — Mara Plains, Angama Mara, Richard's Camp — where the game viewing is as good and the camps far quieter than the main reserve.
Seven nights is plenty for the Mara, with time for the balloon, a visit to a Maasai village if you want it, and long, slow game drives after the big cats. The conservancy camps allow off-road driving and night drives the reserve does not, which makes a real difference to a honeymoon's game viewing. It is the classic East African honeymoon, at a mid-range price.
Price from US$6,800 per person sharing (7 days, Mara conservancy camps, all meals, game drives and honeymoon touches; balloon and international flights extra). Best season: July–October for the river crossings; year-round for resident big cats. Ideal for: Big-cat lovers, couples who want one reserve done beautifully.
5. Serengeti & Zanzibar Safari-and-Beach Honeymoon — 9 Days
Best for: The East African bush-and-beach — the Migration, then the Spice Island to unwind.
The natural partner to a Serengeti safari is Zanzibar, a short flight away off the Tanzanian coast, and the timing is near perfect: the best Serengeti months are also the best Zanzibar beach weather. Three or four nights on the plains for the Migration and the big cats, then the switch to a beachfront villa on the quiet north or northeast coast of the Spice Island — warm turquoise water, a sunset dhow, carved-door Stone Town within reach and the Mnemba reef to snorkel.
Nine days carries the two halves comfortably, and the contrast is the appeal — the thrill of the bush, then the calm of the Indian Ocean. We handle the internal flight from the Serengeti to Zanzibar so the move is one easy travel day, and we match the beach half to the safari, whether that is a grand resort or a small boutique villa. For the full East African bush-and-beach picture, our luxury safari and beach combinations guide covers the routings.
Price from US$6,850 per person sharing (9 days, Serengeti camp and Zanzibar beach villa, most meals on safari, internal flights and transfers; international flights extra). Best season: June–October for both the Serengeti and the Zanzibar beaches. Ideal for: Couples who want wildlife and warm water without a long-haul second flight.
6. Cape, Vines & Big Five Honeymoon — 9 Days
Best for: The gentlest first taste of Africa — Cape Town, the Winelands and the leopards of the Sabi Sand in one flowing journey.
For most couples coming to Africa for the first time, this is the honeymoon we recommend above all others, because it holds three trips in one and eases you in gently. Cape Town and Table Mountain, the Atlantic seaboard and a sunset from Camps Bay to open; then the Winelands of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch for a private cellar tasting and a candlelit dinner among the vines, at estates such as Delaire Graff; and finally the Sabi Sand for the leopards and the Big Five, at camps such as Lion Sands or Londolozi. Ocean, vineyard and wilderness, each stay long enough to truly settle.
Nine days lets each of the three halves breathe — two or three nights in the city, two in the Winelands, three in the bush — and the flights between them are short and easy. It is varied, romantic and famously good value for the quality of the lodges, which is why it is our most-loved honeymoon. We can open it with a few extra Cape nights or close it on a Mozambique beach if you want to stretch it.
Price from US$6,800 per person sharing (9 days, Cape Town, Winelands and Sabi Sand, listed meals, internal flights, game drives and honeymoon touches; international flights extra). Best season: November–April for the Cape; May–October for the best bush game viewing — both work year round. Ideal for: First-time Africa couples who want variety, city, wine and wildlife.
7. Victoria Falls & Chobe Honeymoon — 7 Days
Best for: The best value of all — the thunder of the falls and the elephant herds of the Chobe.
The most affordable way into a genuine safari honeymoon is also one of the most dramatic. Victoria Falls — the Zambezi dropping over a mile-wide edge, the spray visible for miles — sits a short transfer from Chobe National Park in Botswana, which holds some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. A few nights at a Falls lodge for the waterfall, a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, and the activities the adventurous want, then across to Chobe for the river and the game, watching the herds come down to drink at dusk from a boat.
Seven nights balances the two neatly, and the pairing gives adventure and romance in equal measure at a price well below the East African and Delta honeymoons. It is the one we point couples to when the budget is the first concern but the honeymoon must still feel like a real safari. It also slots neatly onto the front or back of a longer trip.
Price from US$5,500 per person sharing (7 days, Victoria Falls lodge and Chobe camp, most meals, a Zambezi cruise, game activities and honeymoon touches; international flights extra). Best season: The falls are fullest February–May; the Chobe game viewing is best May–October. Ideal for: Value-minded couples, those who want drama and a real safari without the top-tier price.
8. Namibia Desert Romance — 9 Days
Best for: Space, silence and a landscape like nowhere else — the red dunes of the Namib.
For couples who want their honeymoon to be about stillness and scale rather than a full game-drive programme, Namibia is the one. The red dunes of Sossusvlei are among the tallest on earth, the night skies are among the darkest, and the desert-adapted wildlife — oryx, springbok, elephant and even black rhino further north — is a quiet counterpoint to the landscape. Lodges such as Wolwedans Dunes Lodge in the NamibRand and Little Kulala at Sossusvlei sit alone in the sand, with private decks, star-beds and a silence you can almost hear.
Nine days gives room for the dunes, a scenic light-aircraft flight over the Namib and the Skeleton Coast, and a few nights at a desert or private-reserve camp for the wildlife. The driving distances in Namibia are long, so we fly you between the highlights to keep the honeymoon restful. It is an ultra-luxury journey in feel, if not always in game numbers — the point is the landscape and the privacy.
Price from US$9,800 per person sharing (9 days, Namib desert lodges, most meals, internal light-aircraft flights, activities and honeymoon touches; international flights extra). Best season: Year-round; April–October is cooler and clearest. Ideal for: Couples who want space, dark skies and a landscape unlike any other.
9. Serengeti & Seychelles Safari-and-Island Honeymoon — 10 Days
Best for: The grandest bush-and-beach — the Migration, then the granite islands of the Indian Ocean.
When the beach half of a bush-and-beach honeymoon is the whole point, the Seychelles is the finest finish there is. Three or four nights on the Serengeti plains for the Migration and the big cats, at camps such as Four Seasons Serengeti, then the flight east to the granite islands — Mahé, Praslin or a private-island resort — where boulder-fringed beaches, warm clear water and some of the best resorts in the Indian Ocean wait. We often open the crater at andBeyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge and close on the sand at a resort such as Constance Éphélia on Mahé.
Ten days lets both halves stretch out at a slower, grander pace than the Zanzibar version, and the Seychelles lifts the beach finish to the highest level. The islands are a longer and more expensive flight than Zanzibar, which is why this sits among the ultra-luxury journeys — but for a milestone honeymoon the pairing is hard to beat.
Price from US$9,250 per person sharing (10 days, Serengeti camp and Seychelles island resort, most meals on safari, internal and inter-island flights; international flights extra). Best season: June–October for the Serengeti; the Seychelles is warm year round, with April–May and October–November the calmest. Ideal for: Milestone honeymoons, couples who want the grandest beach finish.
10. The Grand African Honeymoon — 14 Days
Best for: Once in a lifetime — four countries planned as one continuous journey.
The honeymoon everything else is measured against. Two weeks across four countries, planned as one flowing journey from start to finish: Cape Town and the Winelands to open, Victoria Falls for the thunder of the Zambezi, the Okavango Delta for the water and the privacy, and a Mozambique island to close on the sand. It takes in the best of the south and the centre of the continent — city, wine, waterfall, wild water and warm sea — and holds nothing back.
Fourteen days is what a journey of this reach needs, and we plan the internal flights so the four countries join without friction — each move a single easy travel day. Every stay is a flagship, every transfer handled, and the honeymoon touches run right through: champagne decks, private dinners, plunge-pool suites, a mokoro at dusk and a dhow at sunset. It is the trip couples plan for a landmark honeymoon, and the one they talk about for the rest of their lives.
Price from US$16,500 per person sharing (14 days, four countries, flagship lodges and hotels, listed meals, all internal flights, activities and honeymoon touches; international flights extra). Best season: May–October suits the whole route best. Ideal for: Landmark honeymoons, couples who want the complete journey.
Which Honeymoon Is Right for You?
The ten rank by fit, so start with what the two of you most want to feel, then let the price settle the shortlist:

- The Great Migration — the Serengeti & Ngorongoro (8 days) or the Masai Mara Balloon (7 days).

When to Travel — and When to Book
Timing shapes both the wildlife and the price. The dry season — roughly June to October across much of Southern and East Africa — gives the easiest game viewing and the clearest beach weather on the coast, and lines up with the Great Migration in the Serengeti and Mara. It is peak season, with the highest rates and the busiest camps, so the best honeymoon suites go early. The shoulder months either side, and the green season of the southern summer, bring softer prices — often 20 to 40 percent less — thinner camps and green landscapes, with wildlife still excellent in most reserves. The Cape and the Winelands are loveliest from November to April. For the full calendar, our when to go on a honeymoon safari guide runs through it country by country.
On booking: the small fly-in camps of the Okavango and the private-island resorts of the Seychelles and Mozambique hold very few rooms and sell out furthest ahead, so for those we suggest eight to twelve months' lead time, especially for peak-season dates. For a focused seven-night trip at a larger lodge, four to six months is usually enough. Booking early also locks in the current rate before the annual increase and gives us the pick of the honeymoon suites. We regularly build beautiful honeymoons at shorter notice too, provided you have some flexibility on camp or dates.
Why Book Your Safari Honeymoon With Beyond Africa
We plan private safari honeymoons across the continent year round, and we put the price on every one of them. That means we can match the countries, the lodges and the pace to the honeymoon the two of you have in mind — the right reserve for the season, the suite with the view, the balloon or the dhow at the right moment — and ask the camps for the honeymoon upgrades and free-night deals they rarely advertise. Every journey here is private and tailor-made, never a fixed group departure, and every one can be lengthened, shortened, combined or dialled up a tier to fit your dates and your budget. You pick the journey; we shape every night around the two of you, and you simply arrive.
