Kafue National Park is Zambia's largest protected area and one of Africa's greatest untouched wildernesses. Established in 1924 and nearly the size of Wales, it ranges from ancient miombo woodlands in the south to the legendary Busanga Plains in the north — seasonal floodplains that emerge each dry season as a golden savannah teeming with life. Here you'll find Africa's highest antelope diversity, with 21 species from red lechwe and puku to majestic roan and sable. Big cats thrive: Busanga's famous lions hunt by day, cheetahs sprint across open grassland, and leopards haunt the riverine forests, while endangered wild dogs roam the woodlands. Yet what defines Kafue above all is its profound solitude — fewer than a few thousand visitors a year explore its vast expanse, meaning sightings are almost always yours alone. With a handful of intimate, seasonal camps set on tree islands and riverbanks, Kafue offers a safari of rare authenticity — remote, exclusive and gloriously wild.
We don't just take you to Kafue. We give you the whole wilderness to yourself. Golden plains where lions hunt by day, cheetahs sprint across open grass, and you never see another vehicle. This is the Busanga at its purest — vast, wild and yours alone.
At a glance, Kafue National Park, Zambia spans 22,400 km² park, lion, leopard, cheetah & wild dog, protected since National Park 1924 — and the best time to be here is typically June – October.
The Busanga Plains — A Golden Wilderness Awakens

This is Africa as it was a century ago — wild, elemental and profoundly moving.
