Mid-October 2026 — the southward return is now in full swing. The Mara River crossing window is closing as the last large columns push back across into northern Serengeti. Herds are building fast at Kogatende and across the Lamai Wedge, and the Lobo corridor is filling with the southbound columns that will carry the migration back toward the central plains through the rest of October.

We show exactly when each position was last updated. If the data is a few days old, we say so. We never dress up old data as live.
Our method: Positions are curated by hand from on-the-ground guide reports, partner lodge sightings and traveller feedback across the Serengeti–Mara ecosystem. We never publish a position we cannot stand behind, and every marker carries an honest verification level and a timestamp.
