It is the only street in the area where there are two Nobel Prize peace winners Nelson Mandela & Desmond Tutu. Former Nelson Mandela and Winnie Mandela lived here in a small townhouse while fighting against the oppression of Apartheid. It was here in Soweto where the innocent's school children were shot with live ammunition by the Apartheid Police because they have objected to being taught in Afrikaans.  We recommend a small group tour with a guide or a private guided tour for any visit o Soweto.
